Re: Setauket?
My parents moved to Setauket from Smithtown last year. They love it! I also think it's beautiful!
Though - they live a bit further away from stores, etc. now and my mom tries to comiserate with me and say that she understands how i feel living far away from everything
Mom, I live 5 miles from the nearest supermarket, and 35 miles from the nearest real shopping center. I win

Re: Setauket?
I moved to STony Brook at 15 years old and went to the HS....
lots of $$, GREAT schools when the kids know what they are doing, the houses are $$$$$ right now as well as the taxes.
As with lots of $$ in the area so goes the spoiled rich kids and I'll admit the HS had it's fair share of drug issues.

Re: Setauket?
It is a very quaint town, especially north of 25A IMO. I was engaged to a guy who's whole extended family lived there for generations...none of them ever moved away. I lived there too for a short while. The school district is very good, and should be since the taxes are so high. I grew up in a neighboring town & kids from my school always went to ward melville to buy the "good drugs" because the kids there had more money & had better stuff. When I was in school Ward Melville actually built a structure for the kids to smoke in so they wouldn't get wet when it rained . I think that is long gone by now though.

Me too, I love the area. I've found that East Setauket homes are much cheaper than Setuaket or Stony Brook. We're considering buying in E Setauket.
