Setting a schedule

My DD is almost 3 months old and I feel like I still haven't set a routine with her. The schedule that she is on now is more of when i feed her. But, I would like to establish a naptime schedule with her. Should I try to start doing that now or wait? It seems that if she's not in a deep sleep, she won't lay in the crib on her own.

Re: Setting a schedule

I wasn't really able to establish a schedule until about 6 months really. And still we don't always stick to it. It's so hard that young because they are so unpredictable! At that point, I just did what worked for us, whether it be rock her to sleep, or a bottle before bed - anything for mommy to get some good sleep!

Re: Setting a schedule

I always had an eating schedule. I remember it went from every 3 hrs...now it is every 4 hrs. However, I dont have a nap schedule per se. He gets cranky and then I put him down to nap

Same here in terms of naps. When she's tired, she goes down. She wakes up at different times each day too, depending if I'm working that day or not. But, THANKFULLY, we have a night time schedule (that DD actually created and makes us stick to!)

Us too - she sleeps when she wants to - but she does sleep through the night. I give her a bottle every 3 hours or so if she seems to want it.

I am not into routines and it seems like DD isn't either.

Besides, they change so much, once you establish one they may have different needs, and you have to get a whole new routine going.
