Severe Diaper Rash Remedies
What works when it's REALLY bad? A&D & Desitin arent cutting it and butt paste never worked for us. Anyone ever try making a Tums paste? A friend just told me about this...

Baking soda!
When DS was getting all 4 of his top teeth in at once, he was geting bad rashes from pooping so much. I would change him immediatly, but that didn't matter. It lasted for abotu 2 weeks, and he hated diaper changes. If you sprinkle some in the bath, most of it will be cleared up in the morning. And if you put a small small amount in the diaper, that'll help some too. I did that with desatin...since nothing else was working. They all cleared up the next day, and he's been fine since. My Mom said she used to do that to her 5 kids back in the 80s LOL.

That's the same way my DS was.....I laughed when my Mom told me about the baking soda... but after 2 days of him screaming bloody murder, I tried it... I was soo shocked it actually made me laugh.

Triple paste usually worked well for us. When DD had a really bad rash from stomach bug the dr recommended Calmoseptine. It was over the counter, but we had a hard time finding it. Finally found it at Walgreen's after calling a few. I REALLY worked well quickly.

Skip the whipes, and wash the tush in the sink with mild soap. Even most sensitive whipes are too harsh on a rash.
Lanolin, the stuff you put on sore nipples, as a first layer, is amazing at soothing the skin.
Let them roll around sit around without a diaper, the bum needs to air out, away from moisture, this is probably the same reasoning behind baking soda.
There is a reason they call it diaper rash, and not butt rash or baby rash, its caused by moisture getting stuck in the diaper and irritating skin.

Before I got the Nystatin for DD I was using a LOT of Triple Paste and it was working really well. THat's the only thing that works when DS has a rash too

DD just had a terrible one, still getting over it. We stop using the wipes and my gfriend's doctor recommended corn starch, butt paste and nystatin (prescribed) mixed to a thick consistency.

Triple paste fan over here. It is the only thing we use anymore. It is amazing... red skin, put it on and by the next diaper change it's gone.

Mylanta and aquaphor. The mylanta automaticlly soothes the rash and calms the redness. You will see improvement by the next diaper change.

Stop using wipes . period. no matter what ones they are .. use papertowels with regular water when you are out.. Moisten them and put them in a zip lock bag.. I very rarely use them any more ,, They are the devil!
