sewing machines? (small, simple ones??)
Ok, so I dont wanna become Miss Tailor or anything but I do wanna stop bother my poor dad (master tailor of our Italian family ) when we need things hemmed, stitched, made from scratch, etc.
I wanna be able to do simple things like hemming pants, or making simple curtains for the kids rooms, with cute fun fabrics...
are there any small GOOD sewing machines that will do the job? recommendations please? thanks!

Re: sewing machines? (small, simple ones??)
I have my mom's 30 year old Singer (she got my grandma's even older Singer). When she took it to be serviced before she gave it to me, the guy at the repair place said they are a great company, they last forever. He even wanted to buy my mom's from her since the metal ones are hard to find now, they are made out of plastic today.
I think I've seen them at Target and Sears for not too much, around $100.

My dad has an oldie but goodie also, and the previous homeowners of my house left an old sewing machine too, but I just wanted something smaller that I can stash away when Im not using it...

I keep mine on the floor in a closet. It's not one of those one's built into a table. I put it on the dining room table when I'm using, and store it away the rest of the time.

I got a Brother a few years ago. I actually just took it out of the box this winter and have had so much fun playing with it. I think it was less than $100 -- great for basic projects!
