Shake-A-Paw really makes me sick.
They actually have a section stating why you should buy a pup from them RATHER than from a breeder...
Why not buy a puppy from a breeder, instead of Shake A Paw?
When deciding to purchase a puppy, there are many advantages to visiting your local Shake A Paw puppy store rather than finding a breeder. First, we have an enormous selection of puppies. We can offer a variety of breeds, price ranges, and temperaments. A breeder will typically have only 1 litter of pups and your selection will be limited to the particular breed of pups that they have.
Second, Shake A Paw has an incredible, unmatched health guarantee. A breeder, though they may offer some sort of health policy, would not be able to afford you the same guarantee as the Shake A Paw lifetime guarantee.

Experienced staff? um some 19 year old kid who doesn't know their asss from their elbow popping gum in your face and shrugging their shoulders when you ask whats the difference between a cockapoo and a puggle?
and the whole "we have a huge selection, while a breeder has only one." so basically instead of RESEARCHING the best breed for you and then finding a breeder to breeds only THAT one--just come to us and sort thru all our mill dogs so we can have another one replace it!
i seriously hate pet stores like this

I like the part about their unmatched health guarantee. The real breeders I know offer to take the dog back into their own home should anything happen to it health-wise, or even if you can no longer take care of it for whatever reason. But you know, I'm sure that's not nearly as "incredible" a guarantee as a pet store could offer...

I got my dog from here. I went to look because my sister and I were getting dogs. I had no intention of buying one from here. Then I saw my Roley in the cage. She was smaller and obviously sick. I couldn't leave her there to die. So after more money then I would care to admit and countless vet visits and sleepless nights she was finally better. She is now a healtyh almost 8 year old. But I warn everyone I know not to go there. We came so close to losing her. The thing that makes me really mad is you can return the sick dog for a new one like it is a purse or a pair of shoes . I know as long as people buy from them they will be in buisiness but I just couldnt leave her there.

That's exactly the mentality they have. These pups are not a living, breathing, animal. To these people they are a "thing".
It's so sad.

Any good responsible breeder has a guarantee, as you pointed out. It makes me so sick how they LIE and prey on people who just do not know. And BTW good luck having SAP take responsibility of a sick dog once it is out of the store.
It makes me so angry that they take the guidelines of responsible breeding and twist them so that it looks like responsible breeding is not "convenient." Ba$tards!
