Shakey in 1st trimester

Hi all - is it normal to feel like I am having low blood sugar constantly throughout the day? I feel shakey and lightheaded 3-4x a day I am 5.5 weeks. I am hungrier for sure and eat every 3 hours or recently trying to eat every 2. It takes awhile to recover too once I get the shakey feeling. Like fruit doesn't help immediately like I feel like it should.

I don't remember this with DD1 but I know every pregnancy is different.

I did have GD with first pregnancy and hoping these aren't early signs already of my sugars going wild?

Re: Shakey in 1st trimester

I felt the same way at that point in my pregnancy too. Bit not all day. Just in the late afternoons. I thought for sure low blood sugar. It only lasted about two weeks. I just made sure I always carried water and something to eat (a small snack) and I was super careful when commuting to/from work as far as trains and subway stations. I was paranoid about passing out but I never did. Just got a little dizzy. Talk to your OB.
It went away and I never had any issues with GD. I'm 35 weeks now with twins

I had that my first pregnancy early on, but not my second. I just always carried water and a sugary snack with me, ate before I left the house and made sure to eat something every few hours. I also had to stand on the hot subway (June and July) for 40 mins on the way to work, which didn't help!

What helped me was making sure to have a small glass of juice every morning before I left the house. It passed pretty quickly.

Yes I did too. It only lasted about 2 weeks and mostly in the afternoons. I made sure to have a juice and granola bar with me before I left work for the train ride home.

Re: Shakey in 1st trimester

My blood pressure dropped periodically with both pregnancies in first tri. I would just have lots of water on hand and sit if I felt weak or light headed. My OB said it was normal due to the increasing blood flow in the body.

If you can check your blood sugar with a finger stick if you still have your glucometer from 1st pregnancy. It could be blood sugar or blood pressure. I would get that also and I checked both and it was neither. It seemed to be part of my nausea that kicked in about 7 weeks.

Thanks I had some juice this morning instead of fruit and think it helped! Feel a bit better today!

Also my glucometer broke or the battery died. I am going to check it again. I may be out of tester sticks too.
