Sharks swimming the streets of New Orleans???
Sharks in New Orleans
Sharks were reported swimming in the streets and even the Superdome – a shelter of last resort for 20,000 people – was at risk from the rising waters.

I dont see anything in that article about sharks  But I heard the waters are infested with snakes.

I did hear one story (early on) that they had spotted a small shark in the water..
At this point, the shark is the least of these people's worries, IMO

It's a creepy kind of snake.
Though I think all snakes are creepy, they scare me.

In the 3rd paragraph it says:

I agree that it's probably low on the priority list right now, but the image of that in my head also freaks me out!!

Yes, this is a tragedy of magnificent proportions, but there's also a lot of misinformation out there.

DH's friend is a police officer there and did say alligators are in the streets attacking people

I agree!!!
I don't think the point is that the sharks are necessarily dangerous, it's just that it has become soo horrible down there and that there is so much water that sharks or fish or whatever are on swimming down the streets!

well that is a given...that with water comes living things...
but i think that saying that sharks are out and about....was said for the shock value
ETA...and if so...it would have been said that these "sharks" are harmless....
