Sharps Container

I got my Ovidrel from Freedom this time, and they sent me a single-use sharps container. Now that I triggered, where do I bring the container with the needle to dispose of it?

Judy told me I can bring it into the office. I always forget, so I have three containers filled to the brim sitting behind our bedroom TV.

Oh, that makes sense. I'll bring it with me when I go for my IUI tomorrow. Thanks!

I disposed of my first two needles in the trash, covered, of course, since I didn't have a sharps container.

I brought mine with me to Dr. B's today, but forgot about it, so it then came with me to work....at a preschool! Chat Icon

Re: Sharps Container

when the container is full mark it as sharps and put it in the regular garbage pickup.
I was on Lovenox for 2 pregnancies and had a lot on used needles. i put them in hard plastic containers like detergent or bleach. When full added a little bleach to the bottom. Swooshed it around and then labelled as sharps. The garbage men never gave me a problem taking it. I had called the town sanitation department and this is what they told me to do.

This is actually a really good idea! We have the sharps container but I keep forgetting to bring it .. I'll have to put it by my front door tonight or something. Maybe it will bring good luck to get those needles from failed cycles OUT of here Chat Icon

Re: Sharps Container

I didnt think you could put needles out in the regular trash. I hope the sanitatation doesnt just dump it with the regular trash. Its the needle part that worries me. I think most hospitals have a place for you to dump or your MD office

I was concerned about that too. But when i called the Department Of Sanitation this is what they told me to do. I double checked but sure enough this is it. They said just add a little bleach, make sure it is a hard plastic container and clearly mark it sharps. I had 2 years worth of it and they took it all without a problem.

Re: Sharps Container

i have one still sitting in my linen closet

haven't figured out what to do with it yet, i'm guessing i'll ask TOH what the best thing to do is, or bring it to the dr's with me and have them take it.

Jax.. i'd wait until it's filled before trying to dispose of it. you never know how long you'll need it

They actually sent me a single-use sharps container. It's a small white rectangle that locks and holds one syringe!

I have this one too!! (in addition to the red one for many many needles)

ETA: I think that white one is specifically for the trigger.
