she will not nap - its going on three hrs and she won't do it....i am losing it...

I have been trying to get samantha to learn how to nap during the day - i get nothing done b/c she needs to be held or out in order to nap - and when she doesn't she crashes at night and its not pretty.....

so yesterday i succeeded in a 40 min nap in the bassinette, and an hr and 15 one on the boppy in my lap (small steps) - today she will not nap - she fell asleep twice after feeding her so far - and each time i placed her in the basinette, she woke up, i calmed her, soothed her, etc....i finally got her to sleep and literally two mins later she was back up - she is so tired....but will not sleep

so now i am sitting here on my laptop crying and she is in the basinette crying....i just can't take this anymore, why will she not sleep at all during the day? she is such a good baby but she needs sleep too....or she gets cranky

at night she does 8-9 hrs but its not healthy for a baby to stay up from 9 am to 10 or 11 pm......i can't do this...its killing me to have her cry but i am so out of ideas....i picked her up twice over the past three hrs, fed her, etc but still nothing, she is so tired but won't go down.....help......Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Have you tried the swing or a car ride?
She is still young, she is now over tired and need some help settling down... I feel for you, I had very similar issues and the only things that worked for my DD were motion...good luck!

Same thing here - DD likes to always be on the go so she naps in the swing most of the time during the day. I am trying to get her to nap in her crib - but haven't been successful for more than 40 minutes. Try the swing. BTW - the only swing she sleeps in is the one that goes side to side.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Hang in there! I went through the same thing with Parker and some days she still will fight when I try to put her down. I found that being consistent really helped. I did the same thing everytime I would put her in for a nap. Eventually she caught on and it got a lot easier. Have you tried white noise or a calming cd? How old is she?

I would invest in a sling. The Baby Wearer

You could try the baby bjorn but I think a sling would be more comfortable for you and you can get some stuff done while wearing your baby. And she will probably sleep in it!

She is asleep now but doing the sighs from crying in it - it breaks my heart....i am on the floor right outside watching on the monitor and still tearing up (who can't when your baby is crying....and of course dh isn't here)....

i thought about the sling, but wouldn't that just prolong the problem??

I had the exact same problem when she was that age. I don't know if you have followed my sleep saga but I feel for you!

I used the sling too when she was that little, I would also just lay down and nap with her so we would both get rest.

BTW, you may not want to listen to my advice as dd did not sleep though the night until last week at 13 months old!
