Shedding? (Any shiba inu parents out there?)

Our Siba Inu Sandy is shedding like crazy. This is the worst it has been since we got her. Usually they have a big shed in the fall and spring but it seems she hasn't stopped all summer. My husband thinks she is losing weight but I don't think so. Is anyone else's dog shedding like crazy all summer or should I be concerned that there is something else going on? She does have allergies could that be part of it?

I have a 2 year old Shiba and she sheds all the time even in the summer. Shibas are know to be heavy shedders so constantly brushing them is the only way to combat it. I try to keep up with brushing 3x or 4x a week and once a month we take her to the groomers for a good brushing and that seemed to help. There are shampoos out there that can help shedding but I didn't try them yet. So you can tell your DH that your Shiba is not losing weight that is just their nature. . But if you are really concerned I would take her to the vet or call the vet just to be sure since you mentioned allergies but it sounds normal to me. Shibas are lovely lil dogs so I don't mind the shedding from her. What color do you have? I have a black and tan one. Below is her pic:
