Shopping around the Marriott Marquis?
I am in NY playing the corporated wife this weekend with DH. Once the other wives found out I am originally from NY, they put me in charge.
Unfortunately, its been 8 years since I have shopped here.
Any suggestions right off Broadway on 47? I vaguely remember the Broadway mall- is that still here and where is it?
TIA- this corporate wife stuff is freaking me out a little- my DH last company was nothing like this. Tommorrow I need to up at 7am to meet the other wives. One of them told me they are throwing me a baby shower I don't even know these people!

What kind of shopping? Everything around there is super touristy.

Re: Shopping around the Marriott Marquis?
Do you mean the Manhattan Mall on 6th Ave & 33rd? I was never impressed, they don't really have too many stores - but Macy's is right there.
As PP said, In addition to the stores along Fifth Ave, Map of Stores on 5th
why not try:
Bloomingdales 59th Street & Lexington Avenue 1000 Third Ave New York, NY 10022 212-705-2000
Lord & Taylor 424 Fifth Ave (Btw 38 & 39)
Saks Fifth Avenue 611 Fifth Avenue (at 50th Street) 212-753-4000
57th Street Shopping Map
Madison Ave (Btw 58 and 72nd) Shopping Map
Its downtown, but I think Century 21 is worth a trip
Century 21 22 Cortlandt St. (bet. Church St. & Broadway) phone:(212) 227-9092
subway: E to World Trade Ctr; 1,2 to Park Place; 3,4,5,J,M,Z to Fulton St
Put your walking shoes on!

I would definitely take them to Macy's or Lord & Taylor (easily walkable) or walk or cab it to Saks (5th & 50th?) or to 57th street - Bergdoff Goodman, Tiffany's, Cartier, Louis Vitton, Coach, Disney Store ...

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I really appreciate all the suggestions. I love all the ideas. I will print them out for the ladies.
This morning they have us meet with the whole company supposedly to introduce me. Instead they congradulated me on the new baby on the way and handed me a gift card for Baby's r us for $300. I was so shocked!

Re: Shopping around the Marriott Marquis?
I work in that area so I know it well. There is nothing in that immediate area that is not touristy.
The Manhattan Mall is on 34th and 6th Avenue.
You can go to Rockerfeller Center- there is a lot of shopping in that area - 47th and 5th. Saks Fifth Avenue is on 50th and 5th. Some stuff on 6th. Also, along Madison in the 40's there are some shops (J. Crew, etc...) around Grand central Station.
There is also the new Time Warner Center (Mall) which has nice stores like Cache, Coach, Cole Haan, Pink, Williams and Sonoma, Solstice, Calvin Klein Underwear, Hugo Boss, Armani Exchange, J. Crew, Montmantre, Samsung, Borders, Sephora (can you tell I spend a lot of time there), plus some fancy restaurants.

Re: Shopping around the Marriott Marquis?
I would definitely walk east and hit up the Bloomies area-- Banana, H&M, Urban Outfitters, 9 West, Aldo, Zara, Levis, Club Monaco, etc. There is a ton of shopping on Lex and then more boutique shops on 3rd. from 60th street and even up to the high 70's. If you keep going, then you will hit the 86th street area with some more stuff-- but that is mostly B&N, Best Buy, etc.
If you don't want to go to the UES-- I would head to lower 5th. Start at 23rd street and work your way downtown to the Un Sq area.
If you want to go further down-- you can start on 8th street and 6th Ave, and work your way east.
