Should I be scared? TMI...Update #1 (bottom) UPDATE #2
this is my first month off BCP. My last period was April 19th. Yesterday I felt really crampy and I wound up getting my period. No big deal, I know the first couple of months of BCP can be wacky.
Well, in all my years of existence I have never ever leaked through a tampon. This morning I got up to change it and go to the bathroom. I don't want to be too disgusting but let me just say I have never seen that amount of blood come out of me at once....like I was watching it leak past the tampon...
Should I be worried there is something wrong and call a doctor??
Update: There was a light at the end of the tunnel....she's gone!! wOOhOO....only 5 days of the grand rapids escaping my body Time to have a party
Thanks for all your help everyone!

Re: Should I be scared? TMI...
I don't think so....if I remember correctly (it has been a long time) before I was on the pill I would bleed so heavy that I wore a tampon and pad to bed at night just in case. Maybe your're just not used to the heaviness of your period of the pill. If it continues past a day or so, then I would call the doctor. Good luck!

My periods have been MUCH heavier since coming off bcp. I wouldn't worry. You could always call your obgyn if it'll make you feel more comfortable.

same thing here - I recently leaked through a tampon as well and could not believe it. For the first time in years, I have to use the "super" when I used to only need "regular"

Re: Should I be scared? TMI...Update #1 (bottom)
So day #2 of first period since coming off BCP and I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel. It is BRIGHT RED (tmi again..sorry!).
We weren't planning on telling anyone I was off BCP but II was so nervous about the whole thing I talked to my mom yesterday and she said it could be like this for 7 days...oh I hope not!

Before I was on BC, I remember having very heavy periods.
I am on the same cycle as you, I woke up to my period this morning & super heavy!!! I guess it is all the joys of coming off BC! Definately keep a pad & tampon handy!

I wouldn't worry too much. I just got off BCP 3 months ago and never experienced AF like I am now. My story is somewhat similar to yours and the cramps are unbearable. I have cysts on my ovaries now and I have to take midal for the pain. I kind of wish I was still on BCP, but they were causing complications too....like really bad migranes. I am married now....so not too worried.

I wouldn't worry too much. My first flow after being off BCP was so heavy, it really was just plain disgusting. And yes, it also lasted a fully 7 days.

Same here for me.....what seems to be the norm for me now after 5 months of of BC is 2 heavy days, then 2 very light days & I am done!
