Should I change my cell phone to a 516 number?

I got my current phone when I was living in Westchester, so my area code is 914. I am not planning to move again until my 2 year old goes to college. So, I'll be living in 516 for a long time. Should I change my number when I trade in for the new iPhone model?

i moved to pa and still have my brookyn 646 #;

its tied to my business and god knows what else so i never changed it. just easier.

i guess it depends on how many things you use that # for and would have to change.

Re: Should I change my cell phone to a 516 number?

We are now living in a day where area codes really don't matter anymore. Pretty much everyone has free long distance on their home phones and cell phones.

I say keep the number if you have had it for a long time. No need to change it.

Besides, they have a tendancy to split area codes when they run out of numbers. So who is to say that your 516 area code will always be 516? Even that may change some day!

Re: Should I change my cell phone to a 516 number?

I have a 617 phone number from going to school in boston. Everyone always says 917 but I just correct them. I have no intention of changing it.

I would just keep since everyone from your old life has your old phone number.

One of the major area codes in S. Fl is 561 - SO annoying when you have a 516 cell phone!!! We live a block away from that 561 area code - Everyone always gets it wrong, copies it wrong, etc

I live in 516 and have a 646 cell number. These days, people just plug #s into their phones and don't even notice what your area code is! So my vote is to keep the 914. Chat Icon
