Should I do online check in for Disney?

Hi! Now I see Disney allows you to check in online at the 60 day mark. I swear didn't it used to be 2 weeks before or something? Should I do the online check In or not? Will I be able to make requests etc. do I still need to check in at the front desk when we arrive?

I would do it, line is shorter at check in! You don't have to do it 60 days out, just wait until a couple of weeks

Last time the online check in line was longer. Was probably just a fluke but I was sorry I did it.

Where are you staying? Definitely do it. We have done it a few times. I know POR has online straight to room check in and others resorts were following. You skip the lobby and just get a text which room you are in when it is ready. Nice feature. But even if they don't have that you will have all your info in, and it is very quick. Last time there were 5 in online check in and 30 in the other line.

Even if it is long it goes much faster by they have your credit card and all info,so you are at the desk for say 2 mins versus ten.

What I have heard (and I cannot confirm the veracity of the statement), is that using online check-in does not speed things up, it actually slows them down. The reasoning is that you are assigned a room way in advance. When you arrive at the resort, if the room is not ready you have to wait. OTOH, if you skip advance check-in you are assigned an available room when you arrive.

When we went we were checked in and on our way to room while the on-line check in line was so long and people that arrived with us were still waiting.

Not necessarily. In general all room assignments are done in advance. It slows the process down for those who make room requests. If no requests are made they will give you the first available room. If you request a specific room, specific area or floor etc, it might take longer rather than accepting the next available cleaned room. When you do online checkin they ask what time you plan to arrive.

As to which is quicker really depends. If you are coming by bus (ME) and 30 people get off who did not check in online that line could be swamped. Regular check in they have to do your passwords for your magic bands, run your credit cards, etc. The past few trips they had people grabbing you with tablets and checking those who did online check in very quickly. They were pulling people aside who had an issue. We were in and out in about 5 mins for two rooms. I would think more would do online, but it always seems many do not.

We just came back 2 weeks ago. I checked in online early. Never did get the text that my room was ready but we got there at 5 and someone was out there waiting with an iPad. Looked me up, walked us in, and gave me my room number within 5 minutes. Everything was so quick and seamless.
