Should I go to the conference?
This is a report from NFR. I've been interviewing and hoping to get something soon. There is a conference though at the end of April that, if I don't have a new job by then, I want to go to. I have to ask my boss to pay for it now and book it b/c it is in Seattle. Do I plan for the conference now and if I get a new job in the next few weeks or month tell them I can't start until May 2nd? Is that fair? Will it hurt my chances at a new position?
Also, my boss is the type that if I had to then miss the conference, I would have to pay her back for it and that's like $500 or so.
Thank you!

Re: Should I go to the conference?
I'm all for conferences and professional development, so I think you should go.
If you're offered a job in the meantime, just tell them you have a prior committment out of town and will start ASAP.
Good luck!
