Should I set up a registry?
I'm almost 29 weeks along with my second baby and I am definitely NOT having a sprinkle or anything like that. But I feel like there's still a handful of things I stil need to get for baby #2. I was thinking of doing it as a way for me to keep track for myself to make sure I have what I need, plus benefit from some of the bonuses, like coupons and stuff. I would not be advertising to other that I set it up, if I do.
Is this a dumb idea or should I go for it? Part of me thinks I should just take my list to the store and grab what I need but what can I say? I love good deals and freebies

Re: Should I set up a registry?
That was my same thinking just a few weeks ago, but my friends really talked me into it by saying there will always be ppl that will want to buy the baby a gift so a registry can help them choose that gift and it made sense.

Should I set up a registry?
I did one. I'm Jewish and didn't have a shower for dd1 and obviously no sprinkle for dd2. I never once told anyone about it, but people either find it on their own or ask me if I have one. It's a great checklist for me and if people do get us gifts I'd rather it be something we need bc Gd knows we do not need any more clothes or toys lol.

Re: Should I set up a registry?
I set up one for baby #2 to keep track of what I needed. I didn't advertise that I had one, it was the easiest way for me to do it, so that's what I did.

Re: Should I set up a registry?
I agree that it's a GREAT way for you to keep track of the things you still need to get. Do it! Doesn't hurt to throw in a few things that are more gift like in case anyone wants to get you something off it!

Should I set up a registry?
I did for the completion discount and because it's easier than keeping a paper copy of a list of what needs to be bought. I'm not sharing the registry with anyone.

Re: Should I set up a registry?
I was going to do the same thing - but then just assembled a wish list on amazon to organize myself.
I didn't need anything that cost over $25….so the coupons weren't ultimately an incentive for me to set up a formal store-based registry.
I shared the list with the few family members who asked , or who I knew were trying to figure out what to get me. Then I just went to Buy Buy Baby with the list and a handful of coupons and bought everything I needed.
(I'm an amazon junkie - so that was just easier for me…..but to each their own!)

Re: Should I set up a registry?
I did, and I'm on baby #3. There's a bunch of stuff that I need (because of the big age gap between the kids), and I need the completion coupons. I haven't shared the registries with anyone other than DH.

Re: Should I set up a registry?
I think it's a good idea, if there's still a bunch of stuff you need. Why not? In that case if anybody DID want to get you something and they ask what you still needed you could just refer them to your personal registry. In my case, I've just begun a list on a word document of what I still need to get myself for #2. I don't think I'll be doing an actual registry since it's not that much stuff, but if anything changes (or I just find it easier to research specific brands and put them on 'hold' for myself that way) then I'll do one later.

Re: Should I set up a registry?
Thanks ladies, I think I'm gonna go for it :) I have a day off from work next week so maybe I'll carve out a little time to get this done. I already feel like the baby will be here in no time!

You could easily do it all online.

Should I set up a registry?
I did it for the "swag bags" and completion coupon. And also as a way to track what I need. We'll be buying everything.

Re: Should I set up a registry?
I did not. I don't really feel like we need all that much. I made a list of things and slowly bought it. So i just ordered new nipples for bottles, new binkies, a hamper and some decor for the nursery and bought them myself.
I will buy some size 1 diapers this month, don't want to stock up cause they grow out so quick. Can't buy formula yet cause who knows what will work for him. We had to switch DS1 so I hate to stock up on that now and see all that money go to waste!

Re: Should I set up a registry?
Yes, definitely! I am not having a sprinkle either but my mom and closest friends decided to buy me some gifts off of my registry. In our small circle we all create wishlists for our kids birthdays, xmas, etc so no one thinks it's tacky.
But really I mostly did it because it made it so much easier to organize everything in one place. Plus I just got my completion coupon in the mail the other day so I will probably be buying everything else of the list in the next week or two.

Re: Should I set up a registry?
I did, at the very least for the coupons and the rewards money back from Babies R Us. So even if I buy it off of my own I get 10% in rewards money.

I didn't know coupons and discounts came along with a registry! You guys are convincing me to set one up now. The few things I actually need are bigger, more expensive things so that might actually be nice!

If you want. Personally I felt like I got better deals on amazon.
