Should i stock up on formula before delivery?

Im having my csection on feb. 12th. We are gonna be patients of Seaford Pediatrics. Does anyone know what formula they recommend and should i buy a little bit before hand. I was gonna just wait till we got home since im sure i can sneak some from hospital.

Don't buy too much. A lot of newbors get switched from one to another.

We go there. Awesome practice btw...

They seem to tell everyone to use Similac Advanced (the blue container). I would just get a couple because you want to make sure the baby can handle that formula.

call them up and ask.... generally, they start off with the regular/dairy versiom of some major brand.

Just get 1 can to start...

I would buy 1 or 2 containers but no more than that. We had to change formula with DD when she was around3 months.

Def. take what you can from the hospital! Chat Icon However, I wouldn't buy too much formula b/c you don't know how your baby is going to react to a particular formula. Your baby could be lactose intolerant or could have spitting up issues, which would change the type of formula you give them. (Hopefully, that's not the case though.)

i wouldn't.

have you gotten the free samples from similac and enfamil? if not, go to their websites and sign up ASAP. you never know what type of formula your baby will be able to tolerate

I wouldnt, just in case your baby needs a soy formula instead or something like that.

I wouldn't. We got a lot as gifts and ended up having to give it away b/c DS was switched to Gentlease.

When I had DS he was on Siimilac in the hospital. Then because of spitting up issues, we ended up on Enfamil, then because of more spitting up issues, we finally settled on Enfamil Lipil.
I would hold off to see what your DC will be comfortable with.

If you are attempting to BF, then I wouldn't stock up on formula. I would take a few packs from the hospital just in case.

I toatlly agree. I would wait. Hopefully you received the free samples in the mail, and you can get some at the hospital as well before you are discharged. You just never know what formula your DC will be on.

Re: Should i stock up on formula before delivery?

I requested free samples from both Similac and Enfamil, there are very generous with their samples!

I am not buying any formula, because I have no way of knowing what will work with DD's digestive system. DH will run out to get more when we get home, if needed. I plan to BF and supplement.
