should I switch to an RE in NYC?
Hi all -
I have an appt next week with Dr. Saketos in Mineola but after reading Kathy's post (referral in Suffolk) I'm nervous that I won't be able to really do appts or anything, unless they are on weekends. I live in Queens and work in NYC by Grand Central
Do you think I should look for another RE or just keep my appt and deal with it?
RS in Mineola did say they were open 7 days a week.
also does anyone have any referrals for one in NYC?
Thanks!

Re: should I switch to an RE in NYC?
When you are treating wityh an RE, you have to go very often for bloods and sonos, usually between 7:00 and 9:00. It might be easier for oyu if you had an RE in NYC, except for weekend appointments. Can you find an RE with offices both in NYC and the island? That way, you could be seen in the city during the week and closer to home on the weekends. I know Long Island IVF has 3 offices on LI and just opened a fourth in Manhattan.

Re: should I switch to an RE in NYC?
I have been having this very same dilemma myself, Donna.
My regular OBGYN has offices in Westchester only. When I was seeing the RE for my endometriosis, that office was in Manhattan AND in Westchester. The doctor I was seeing has since left that practice (and to be honest I wasn't thrilled with him) so depending on what happens at my next regular GYNO appointment, I am probably going to be looking for a new RE as well
However I dont know if I should use a doctor in NYC (where I work) or stick to Westcheter.. I dont want to keep missing a LOT of work and knowing that you often need to see your RE a LOT , I'm thinking NYC might be my best bet.. (except for the weekend factor)
I have a few recommendations for RE's in NYC from people at my office but I dont know firsthand about them, so I'll let you know if I get any better information from my regualar ob/gyn when I see her

Thanks for your responses. I think I'll keep the appt next week and then just take it from there.

Re: should I switch to an RE in NYC?
I work in NYC too, Donna. Trust me, you NEED to have an RE in the city, or there will be a lot of explaining to do at your job!
I go to Reproductive Medical Associates, which is on Madison Ave between 59th and 60th St. I see Dr. Sandler, although there are several docs there. I think he's great so far, though I've only been a patient there two months. I've called the office many times with questions/worries/etc, and he calls back that same day usually after 5 pm, without fail!

Re: should I switch to an RE in NYC?
Donna,
I have someone in Manhattan who comes highly recommended, and is associated with Cornell. If you want to know a bit more ..forum mail me.
I would definitely keep my appt though, they will get you off to the 'right start'.

Re: should I switch to an RE in NYC?
I go to Cornell, all the way from Patchogue. Let me tell you, it is worth every minute and dollar I spend between the LIRR and cabs.
I go to Dr Davis, and love him. Dr Spandorfer is another favorite of mine (you see all the RE's when you are cycling), and a lot of my friends go to him and love him. I believe Dr S also has an office in Queens.

Re: should I switch to an RE in NYC?
I would suggest finding a RE that has an office in NYC and on LI. An office on LI would help because if you had to go in for bloodwork, sono or treatment on the weekend you would not have to drive into the city.
