Should you bring something to a host's house

Like food or drink?

My DH says some of his friends don't do that. None of my friends do. He thinks though its a guy thing.

We always bring things to people's houses if they provide food.

I always bring a bottle of wine, even when we are just going to my parents house for dinner!!

Re: Should you bring something to a host's house

yup- we usually do... we only have one group of friends that we hang out with, but theres like 20 of us... so even "casual" get togethers at peoples houses can get out of hand.... so, we've started just all bringing something- alcohol, dessert, whatever... i think its the polite thing to do

ALWAYS! I've gotten dh into this habit, too. I was always taught to "never go visiting empty-handed".

ETA: On the OTHER hand, I NEVER expect anyone to bring things when they come to my house. If they do, it's nice, but I don't care at all if they don't.
