shoveling
Can I shovel when I am pg? Obviously my DH will do the morning but I am waiting for the oil guy to come service my boiler and I don't need him falling on his toushie and suing me, so I am going to need to shovel after DH leaves for work. Is this ok?

Re: shoveling
I feel really stupid calling the dr. about this LOL. Tomorrow, my dad is bringing over a snow plow, but figures, it snows today! Maybe I'll try to bribe my brother to come over :)

Re: shoveling
I would be afraid of slipping. If you must, be very careful, bundle up and take it slow.

There's no way I would shovel. Don't take any chances...it's strenuous work.

Re: shoveling
My guess is that it is ok to shovel as long as it in not heavy shoveling. We ar epg not handicapped! If you are unsure then call your dr. You don't even have to speak to him, the receptionist can answer the question for you and you don't even have to give you name.
Do only what you feel comfortable doing.

I agree with Cakes!
If it's like this morning by me......I could have managed. I wouldn't do my normal lift & throw.......I would push it out of the way.
But each of us is diferent.....so only if you think YOU can handle it!!! But DON'T do it ONLY for the oil guy.....he can manage otherwise!

Re: shoveling
do what you can. But it is physical activity and people often forget it, that is why so many people who are inactive have heart attacks while doing it. So just listen to your body, wear good boots, so you don't fall, don't get out of breath, dress warm, and bend from your knees so you don't hurt your back!

Re: shoveling
I will be shoveling in a little while. Nothing heavy just clearing a path. I shoveled (a much larger storm) with my first as well (but got yelled at!).

Re: shoveling
I'm not shoveling. Its not worth it for me. I'd have an asthma attack anyway. So, I say no.

Re: shoveling
DH was out there this morning shoveling his little heart out. I felt so bad that I couldn't help. Its not such a good idea. The snow is heavy and you could hurt yourself.

Re: shoveling
I wouldnt do it. Im a nervous nelly and lately, I lose my breath a lil too easy. I am also at that "clutsy" stage as I bump into things and drop stuff. My luck, Id fall.
We told our landlords yesterday that I was PG (to a lackluster response ) and I am glad we did. They were out there plowing and shoveling in the 7:00 hour. Since we rent, we arent responsible to do it so we don't. I think shoveling to them is cheaper than a lawsuit.

Re: shoveling
Hi Liz,
I wouldn't. I would be afraid of falling. Remember I already fell once this winter and it is scary. Also the snow maybe heavy. Just stay indoors and be safe.

ITA. I wouldn't say it's a great idea had DH not already gotten the bulk of the show out of the way, but if it is just a little bit and you take your time, it should be fine...as long as you are comfortable!
My DH shoveled a path to my car this morning and brushed the heavy snow off, so I only had to do a light cleanup when it was time for work, and I know I will have to dig myself out when it is time to leave work b/c I doubt anyone here will come running to do it for me. Just be careful.

Re: shoveling
I did already. DH did it before he left for work. I felt like getting outside a bit -I just pushed it away, not really lifting.
