Show me your light fixtures! updated with question below
We have a split. Right now there's ugly fixtures hanging in the entry and DR. The LR/DR area is L-shaped and you can see it all from the entry. My light fixtures should compliment each other, right? How close do they have to be? Should I just buy two of the same or is that boring? Help me; I am clearly design challenged.

I wouldn't buy two of the same.
I have a split and my entry foyer has a high ceiling, so my fixture there is a bit bigger than my dining room chandelier. The entry foyer one is oil rubbed bronze, whereas the dining room light fixture is brushed nickel.
But they are both similar styles in that they are both what I would call traditional with a modern twist (clean lines, etc).
Even in a totally open floor plan (which my split is not), I think you can define the different spaces with different light fixtures, furniture, etc.
I'll see if I can post pics...but I never have success with that!

I really wish LIF would make it easier to post pics! I have a bunch of new light fixtures but it's too hard to post here!
