Show me your weekly shopping list please!
I need help- I never know what to buy when I do the grocery shopping.. can you guys show me your normal weekly/biweekly shopping lists to give me some ideas? I was reading Dani's thread about saving money and lots of you said you plan the week's meals ahead of time... I've been wanting to do this for a while now... would anyone mind sharing their week's list for this?? TIA!!

Re: Show me your weekly shopping list please!
I decide what we are going to eat that week and then scan the ads to see who has the most of what I am cooking on sale that week. This week I made: Beef and broccolli Turkey breast meatloaf The chop meat, and the steak for the beef and broccoli were on sale at Stop and Shop. I also bought a roast beef becuase it was on sale and froze it. HTH I then added in yogurt, eggs, deli meats etc.

Re: Show me your weekly shopping list please!
i usually decide what we're gonna eat for the week, then make my list from that. i figure out what we need to make whatever we're gonna have, and then figure out what we need to buy, or what we already have on hand. its a lot less complicated than it sounds- i promise! LOL i'll also stock up on certain things when i see them on sale- canned tomatoes, pasta, cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup. i buy meats in bulk packages and then split them up and freeze them. so if ground beef is on sale, i'll buy the family pack and then split it up into 1 pound portions and put those in freezer bags. this way you always have the right amount of meat ready to go for a meal. so really i have a lot of things on hand already-- i usually just have to buy any veggies we need to make the meals... ALSO we do a lot of leftovers- we'll make a pasta dish one night and then 2 nights later eat the leftovers from that. so that cuts down on the number of meals we have to make in a week. pot roast also makes for good leftovers, so does chili!

Re: Show me your weekly shopping list please!
I usually look at the circular to see what's on sale and that's partially how I decide what we will eat that week. Unless there is something DH or I is really craving, I won't really deviate from that. Typically our list looks something like this:
STAPLES (every week, no matter what): *Milk *Deli Meat (usually Turkey, always choose one that's on sale) *Deli Cheese (something on sale also) *Some kind of juice, lemonade, etc. (for DH) *Something snacky (pretzels, peanuts, etc.)
STAPLES (every other or every few, when needed): *Butter *Wheat Bread (we buy the brand we like when it's on sale and keep extra loaves in the freezer if we have) *Cereal (we only buy what's on sale, we rotate what we get based on that) *Eggs
DINNER STUFF (changes based on sales): We always freeze extra meat from a package so we try to use that as much as we can....if there is a family pack of chicken on sale we will get that and freeze the rest...same with pork chops, etc. *Chicken, London Broil, Pork Chops, Ground Turkey -- depends what's on sale. We typically buy one or two types of meat per week and fill in the rest with what we have in the freezer *Veggies -- will buy what's on sale again, rotating squash, asparagus, zucchini, green beans, etc. *Sides -- if we are running out of pasta or rice I will buy but always buy sale brands
