Shower Question: Who is invited?
My aunt, who lives in FL, informed me today that she would like to plan and throw my shower since she'll be in the area rather frequently as my cousin is moving up here in January. I had sent out an email to friends and my aunt asking for full contact info. so I could give it to whoever ended up doing the shower for me. So of course, my aunt asked that I give her all the info once I receive it...which got me thinking: So who all gets invited? Obviously my friends and women in MY family...but what about DH's? Which family members [either side] gets invited?

When we had showers for my sisters, we invited the female family members of both sides who were invited to the wedding to start with. Any kids (girls) over a certain age were also invited even if they weren't for the wedding. Also some friends of both parents along with the expectant mom's friends.

definitely Dh's female family members and any females married in. I cut off some of DH's friends wives. I had to keep numbers down and I'm not really close with most of them.

I know the person putting my shower together asked DH to make a list of his cousins...I told him not to. They really don't have showers and I really don't send anything to them...

Not all of our family as some have just drifted off and based on their past actions, they have clearly made it known that they don't want to be part of the giving and receiving that is a family.
Some people have proven themselves time and time again by their drama and dysfunctional behavior that they are just selfish an unable to be mature adults in a loving family unit.
As the youngest of my generation I had to witness and put up with their garbage for too long. Well, I've decided that life is too short for their nonsense and they are permanently off my list for family celebrations.
Others:
some of my cousins
my aunts/uncles (I'm having Jack and Jill for family)
co-workers
old friends
new friends
one friend of MIL
DH's sisters but they live out of state
one of DH's aunts
a few of DH's cousins
I started with the wedding list and worked from there.

Relatives from both sides and I asked my sister to pass along 3 co-worker addresses (Im very close with them) as well as friends. I don't know whose throwing it, when, where...I love surprises! Only problem is I need to stay OFF the BRU website! I don't want to ruin it for myself!! They should block those of us who don't wanna "Peek" but cannot help it..LOL
