Showing up late for a medical appt
If someone shows up 40 minutes late for a medical appt shouldn't it be canceled?
I had an appt this morning that was 45 minutes late (second appt of the day) that I showed up for 15 minutes early because the person before me was 40 minutes late...
Based on that method - I was there before them most likely...
I'm just so angry. Between that and the fact the person that was doing my ultrasound was interrupted 3 times during the 15 minute appt I had.

Showing up late for a medical appt
Ah pet peeve of mine. I am always 15 minutes early and leave plenty of time for traffic and parking. Obviously sometimes there are circumstances that make it impossible for someone to be on time. But some people just don’t care and are generally late to everything. Drives me crazy!!!

Did they take the person that was 40 min. late? I would have made them reschedule or wait if the schedule for day allowed and taken you instead.
People are entitled and Don't care.

Re: Showing up late for a medical appt
Ugh, how frustrating. I have no experience working at a medical office but, If I were them, I would've waited 10-15 minutes for the other patient and then when they didn't come, I would've taken you.
DH was once 5 minutes late to his doc and they gave him SUCH a hard time. They almost didn't see him. But I guess it's best like that to keep the appt's flowing.

Showing up late for a medical appt
I think it depends honestly. I have definitely been in a situation where I have been seen late due to a late patient or just because they are running behind schedule. It is very frustrating.
With that said, I have been a few minutes late before due to traffic, but I usually call ahead to let them know and they always tell me to just come late.

Yes - a few minutes late is understandable, things come up. I've been late before - never 40 minutes, maybe 10 - but I call and explain and make sure I can still be seen.
I just thought it was ridiculous to take someone 40 minutes late when you are booked solid all day.

That would aggravate me, especially because I am a perpetually early person. So frustrating.

Showing up late for a medical appt
Normally I would say something like that would really annoy me, but something happened to me on the other end that was also annoying.
I had back-to-back appointments that were scheduled by my oncologist's team - bloodwork (11:45am), PET scan (12:15), echocardiogram (2pm), then meeting with my oncologist (4:15pm). The PET scan takes a long time b/c they inject you with radioactive stuff and you have to wait about an hour while it makes its way throughout your body. The actual scan is about 15 minutes.
I checked the timing of everything that morning b/c a friend asked me about it. However, after the PET scan, I went straight to the echocardiogram, and they told me I was an hour late. Apparently, without telling me - they moved my appointment to 1pm, but there's NO WAY I would have been done with my PET scan by then.
The front desk person was trying to make me feel badly about being late but it was their fault they moved the appointment in the first place. So I had to wait about 20 minutes until they could fit me in. So I'm sure that I "bumped" someone from their appointment and it looked like I was an hour late.
