Sick 9.5 mos year old, so help

So I've been pretty lucky, DS rarely has gotten sick.

He is 9.5 mos and has a pretty bad cough, sneezing a little and has a runny nose. He went to the ped a week ago and she said it really wasn't anything. He's a little cranky. Yesterday we thought it was teething because his cheeks we bright red and his fist was in his mouth. He's not crying, sleeping pretty ok, mood ok and is still very active (should add yesterday he did #2 4x!!!, not runny though).

Any tips or advice? We'll take him to the Ped tomorrow if no improvement. We do use a humidfier in his room and I'm making sure he gets all his fluids.

Also, tonight once he goes down I want to run all his plastic toys through the dishwasher. Is this safe?

I've cleaned all his bedding already

Thanks!!

Sounds like my just about 8 month old DD....same symptoms. I just posted about when I should take her to the ped....she is happy although her nose is a faucet and she has a loose cough. We have her 8 month appt on friday, so I figure as long as she doesn't get any worse, I will wait until then.

One thing I did think of was to change her sheet a little more often while she is sick - if not, it's kind of like she is sleeping in snot. I also think today might be a good day to take her out for a walk and get her some fresh air and vitamin D from the sun!

yea, I plan on taking him out. Good call. I was actually going to go to Car Wash (figured he would enjoy watching the whole process). I think its just a cold because no fever, still peeing, happy, hasn't interupted his sleeping yet.

Thanks!!

I would hand wash the toys with something mild like Dawn. Dishwashing detergent is pretty harsh and most toys say use a mild clearner. Plus the heat in there may be too much.

I hope he feels better soon.

DD is 9 mos and has had a cold/little cough for a few days now too. We were just at the ped for her 9 mos appt and he said it was nothing... I plan to wash her sheets today (this past reminded me) and give her toys a cleaning too. I usually wash her toys in the sink with some hot water and soap. I used water with a tbspn of bleach once, but I didn't like the smell... too strong.
