Sick of dh's hours!!!!!!

I am going crazy with my dh's work schedule. He has been working from 4-2 in the morning since October and before I got pregnant, I had gotten used to it. But now, they have been making him work during the day and at night too. I NEVER see him, I dont get help with ANYTHING, I dont feel well at night and I have no one to depend on except my mom which isnt very fair to her that I go over there for support every night (although she loves it).

I asked dh to talk to his boss and he claims its good money and good work and I just have to deal with it. I am tired of dealing with it. Every time hes home for even a couple of hours they are calling him and asking him to go in early or do them a favor and he goes running. I think he has a responsibility to his pregnant wife too. Hes gonna burn out soon too and I just cant deal with that right now.

Am I wrong? Am I expecting too much??
By the way, hes an electrician in local 3.

no you are not wrong! your dh need to tell his boss that he needs to spend time with his wife who is pregnant i understand in wanting some extra hours and money but he does not need to work 24/7 to make a living he needs to be with you too he has a responsibilty to be with his wife he married you not his Job!goodluck i hope it all works out.

maybe he can take less hours sometimes. could he be trying to get some extra money for baby expenses?

No I think hes just totally addicted to his job. Hes such a hard worker and I am grateful for that but he doesnt know how to say no to his boss. Hes in the union and saying no to your boss shouldnt mean automatically thay he would be fired. They are asking too much of him and I feel like I am being put on the back burner. Its an awful feeling to be alone all the time. Its depressing and at this point in time, I need him around. It hurts me more that when I tell him this it seems to go in one ear and out the other. I am getting really frustrated.

Noreen if I lived closer I'd come hang with ya!! Maybe he could take a few days off to spend some quality time with ya. I am sure he would love to be home with you, but maybe he feels with a little baby on the way he needs to put in as much time as he can now, so that when the baby comes he can take off alot.
I miss ya...ooh, I just had a schedule change and with be getting some time during the day, I am gonna come visit you, we'll do breakfast!!

I would hate it too...
My DH used to work evening hours for a while and i HATED it. I felt lonely. He never liked it himself so he changed it the minute another timeslot opened...
Buthe still will work a lot of OT. And that gets to me too sometimes...

But he is right it is good money that we need right now. So i deal with it.

He's local 3 and working crazy hours? If he can get the hours, my understanding is that he has to take them. They're having 4 out of 5 guys laid off on the job. If you don't accept OT, you're getting furloughed AND possibly laid off.

My dh is working as many as hours as they're willing to give. They're talking about a 10 week furlough again.

Is he a foreman?

He has to take a 10 week furlough this year no matter what. So thats no question no matter what hours hes working right now. I know its better than being laid off but I feel like his bosses are taking advantage of him and he has a big mouth when it comes to me but when it comes to then he kisses butt way too much. Yes, work is important but do I come into play at all here??

I had heard the same thing about Local 3's hours. If you don't take them you basically lose your job. A friend of ours does the same thing and he works insane hours....then all of a sudden he won't have much work at all.

I can relate. DH works 9:30a.m - ??? usually gets home sometime between 9:00pm and 11:00pm
It was difficult to get used to and then I was starting to get used to being alone so much but now that I'm pregnanct I don't like being alone so much.

I go through the same thing. He is in school all day and works all night. I hope when he graduates in May that things will change.
