Sick Toddler and Sleep Issues to Boot
So, DS will be 3 in April. He has been sick since last Friday and we haven't slept longer than 2 hour stretches since, and I'm a FTWM who has to get up at 4:30 to get to work on time. My question is this. What do you do when your toddler continues to come into your room during the night? I mean, every time he opens his eyes he's right there.... I just take him back to his room and tuck him in again and tell him goodnight. I know he is sick right now, but how do you handle a "wandering" toddler once he is well again? I fear this is becoming more a habit than anything else. Gates will NOT work b/c he can scale 2 on top of each other. And he has to have his door open b/c of recent toddler fears....
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated from this VERY tired Mommy....
TIA!

Re: Sick Toddler and Sleep Issues to Boot
We were having a lot of issues with DS coming into our room at night. I started a sticker reward chart. Everytime he got 5 stickers we would go to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast. Eventually he just stopped coming in. And we haven't needed the chart since.

Re: Sick Toddler and Sleep Issues to Boot
I don't have experience with this personally but had a patient who had this same issue and what I told her was to take her DS back to his room everytime she felt him come into her room and/or bed. The key is to be very consistent and not to give DC any attention - it should all be done without any talking. I think consistency is key. It's also important to try and catch them as they come into your room vs after they've been in your bed for a while. But regardless, the technique should theoretically be the same. GL!
