Side dishes to bring for Thanksgiving for a large crowd- any suggestions?

Anyone have any crowd pleasing Thanksgiving side dishes ? Probably around 20-25 people ...Usually the main sides ( sweet potatoe casserole, stuffing etc... are usually taken Chat Icon )

last year I got stuck with twice baked potatoes, so I'm hoping to bring something a bit different this year...thanks !

Green bean casserole?

I have a good creamed onions recipe if you want it... I have it at home so I'd have to post later tonight. It's made with pearl onions.

Re: Side dishes to bring for Thanksgiving for a large crowd- any suggestions?

puff pastry recipe...sorry for the delay-have a had a crazy few weeks!

take a puff pastry shell, unfold and prick holes through the middle areas (leave about an ince parameter untouched) and bake as per instructions on the package;

cut up about 5 large shallots, melt 4 TBLS of butter in an oven proof frying pan, throw in the shallots with 2-3 TBLS of honey and approx 1/3 cup of balsamic vinegar...stir until shallots are soft....throw it in the oven about 10 minutes or until the mixture starts to come together like a syrup mixture.

Remove pastry from oven and spread mixture on top, break up goat cheese on top and put in the oven until the cheese is melted.......soooooo delicious....

Although the shallot mixture is delish and you will want to load on 4 times the amount of the above on it....don't-you will make the pastry mushy.

I use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to cut it into squares and serve.
my dh and I llllove this....we make it often in the winter as a friday/sat night treat!

OMG- that sounds incredible !!

One quick question- Do you dice the shallots real small (the smaller the better, or just cut them ?)

Thank you again Chat Icon !!

i just slice them long ways about a 1/4 of an inch thick....you can go thinner if you like, but I woulnd't dice them up...when they carmalize int he oven the edges turn a little 'black' sooo yum!
