Signs of Eczema?
Alex's skin on her forearms & calves is SO dry, I have tried many diffferent lotions, oils, Aquaphor, etc...and nothing seems to work, it keeps getting worse. Her skin feels really rough & almost "hard" you know? It doesn't seem to bother her & it's not red. Could this be eczema?

Re: Signs of Eczema?
Julia had the same thing, but she actually has the dry patches on her skin too. I Took her to the dermatologist and they said it was eczema. The doctor said to put lotion on it and aquaphor so I did and it went away for a little bit but came back, not as bad but there is a few dry patches left on her back, arms, and legs. My doctor said it will go away with time. Does she get a bath everyday?

She gets a bath every other day. I just think she inherited her mommy's dry skin.

Re: Signs of Eczema?
Andrea, Jacob had the same dry skin thing mostly on his upper arms. I used cetaphil and it went away within 2 days. Good luck!

Re: Signs of Eczema?
Emily has the same thing on her legs, arms, and tummy. I showed it to the Dr yet again after they consistently just tell me it is dry skin and to continue the aquaphor/cetaphil treatements that I do 2X/day+ and they finally said it is probably eczema and he recommended that if and only if it seems to bother her I can use hydrocortisone cream on it but not to do that if it doesn't seem itchy.

Re: Signs of Eczema?
My son has eczema on his body. His skin is very rough and bumpy to the touch. During the warmer weather it gets very bad. Once in a while it looks like he has a rash with little red bumps. I would use aquaphor or another lotion of that type twice a day. Also wash her body with cetaphil which is gentle. Johnson and Johnson and similar products actually dry babies skin out more. The doctor told me not to give my son a bath every day, as that also dries out the skin. I only give him a bath 2-3 times a week and the water should be lukewarm.

Re: Signs of Eczema?
Emma has REALLY bad eczema. I tried using Auaphor and Eucerin - Nothing helped - With my doctor's advice, I now use 1% hydrocortozone - It's the only thing that really helps her from scratching ( and I mean scratching until she bled). We have a dermaologist appt in May - So hopefully they will come up with a better solution, but for now, this works the best.
Also - use only unscented, hypoallergenic products.... Emma gets an Aveeno bath 1 or 2 times a week, and I use hypoallergenic ALL for laundry.
ETA: Emma's eczema feels like rough, raised patches on her elbows and forearms. Also on her legs by her calves, her back, and around the base of her neck and scalp.
