Signs of reflux? Any helpful solutions?
One of my boys is acting very out of character. We're trying to figure out what the problem is... by process of elimination. We're thinking that maybe he has developed adverse reaction to the formula. What signs of reflux did your babies have? He hasn't spit up but seems uncomfortable when lying down. Gas? Reflux? Combo? Help!
TIA

Re: Signs of reflux? Any helpful solutions?
Signs of Reflux: Pulls away from bottle or breast while feeding and is obviously still hungry
Chronic ear or respiratory infections (bronchitis, bronchiolitis, pneumonia)
Going a substantial amount of time without bowel movements (
Continuous cycle of eating, spitting/vomit, eating, spitting, eating. (feels good going down, but burns coming back up so infant eats more to soothe only to burn again)
Stops breathing
Loud and persistent grunting
Frequent hiccups
Constant runny nose
Bad breath
Very irritable and easy to agitate
Frequent screaming episodes with eyes shut and brows furrowed
Very tense during feeding with fists clenched tightly and legs drawn up
No sleep or only short naps
Sudden screaming during sleep and wakes up frequently crying
Constantly hungry and still feeds even after being overfed
Moaning, groaning, and straining during and after feedings as if trying to pass gas or a bowel movement Hope this helps!

Re: Signs of reflux? Any helpful solutions?
Diane-
My daughter Reese didn't really spit up it would just sit in her throat which would cause her to stop breathing..So reflux isn't just if a baby spits up. But the signs i listed could also be colic too..in that event you have to ride it out...until the baby belly matures.
Some solutions..of course for reflux..mediacation and keeping the baby upright after they eat..also spacing the feeding 3-4 hours. That seemed to help me..also enfamil AR seemed to help.
