Silestone
So, DH and I spent Saturday picking out our kitchen and have pretty much decided on silestone countertops. My only concern is the common knowledge (or lack thereof) of silestone as at par, or above depending on who you talk to, with granite. Although this will be our home, it is ultimately an investment property that we plan on keeping 5-7 years max so most of what we're adding to it is done with the "will this help us sell it better?" thought.
Do you guys think that "silestone" is known enough? I just like it better than granite, which is why we chose it but I'm concerned the name won't garner the same reaction from a buyer as granite since it's so new...
Here's a gratuitous pic since it's not really relevant to the question, but I <3 it

Re: Silestone
From what I have read, silestone is a better option because it isn't as pourous. So I think it is a great investment for your home.
Personally, if I am going to pay X amount for a house, I would not be looking to pay X++ just because the countertops are granite...

Re: Silestone
That's what I've read too, that it is actually better in a kitchen environment than granite due to the porous nature of granite. I guess I don't want people to think it's equivalent to something like corian or laminate rather than granite... does that make sense?

Re: Silestone
Yep ... it looks great. I think it is the perfect choice.
When we redo the kitchen (if that ever happens) DH wants soapstone countertops...you know like in lab in HS..

Re: Silestone
I think it is becoming more popular & people will know it more when you are ready to sell, but you can also tell your realtor about it as a selling point. Most people I think, will just appreciate that it looks good.
