Silly PG teacher question - what's for lunch?
I am planning on doing major food shopping tomorrow in preparation for the start of school on Tues.
So...I was wondering...what are you planning on taking for lunch? (not like you haven't been eating lunch all summer, it's just a li'l different) I have high cholesterol so I'd like to stay away from a lot of dairy and I'm not so big on deli meats (trying to avoid extra salt to avoid having preclampsia again).
I do have a fridge in my room and there is a microwave in the staff lounge.
Any thoughts?

Last year I did a lot of PB and J and chicken salad sandwiches!

Re: Silly PG teacher question - what's for lunch?
I am just TTC, but I stock up on FF yogurt, a can of nuts so I can grab a handful when hungry on the go, nutrition shakes for when I have no time to heat anything else, balance bars, that kind of stuff. I tend to more graze during the day rather than sit and eat a real lunch- who has time for that?

When I was working I would bring the frozen Amy's burritos- so yummy!! I don't know about the sodium content though, you may want to check that if you have to watch it closely.

I was just going to ask this question too since packing my own lunch has never been fun to begin with but now with restrictions, I am not looking forward to it.
Anyone think having a frozen dinner meal like Lean Cuisine every once in a while is bad?
Other than that I will prob. make salads with grilled chicken, and bring in dinner leftovers to reheat.

Unfortunately, I work in a school where there are a LOT of children with severe peanut allergies. So PB&J is completely out.
I usually wind up bringing a frozen Lean Cuisine or something that's left over from last night.

I was just thinking about this before I saw this. I have no idea what I will be eating. Probably alot of salad an yogurt. When it starts to get cold probably soup. I'm not a big fan of frozen meals like LC.

I do a lot of PB&J. I have high cholesterol too, so I throw some wheat germ on there as well - super healthy and you don't taste it! Just sprinkle some over the PB before you close the sandwich.
I'll do leftovers. Also, every so often I'll do tuna since it's supposedly good in terms of the cholesterol thing. But again, I don't do it often. Sometimes I'll just do a mishmosh of snacks - cheese, yuogurt and sesame sticks or something like that.

Oh yeah, soup! They have Campbell soups that you can heat right in the container and drink, essentially. Super easy.

Re: Silly PG teacher question - what's for lunch?
Luckily I don't need to plan too much! Between lunch and recess I have a 55 minute break and everything is within a 5 minutes drive! There's a bagel store, pizza, chinese, Mcdonalds, Taco Bell- guess I'm lucky!

Re: Silly PG teacher question - what's for lunch?
I started school last week... all week I ate two small round pita breads with humus and a granola bar or fruit cup- 2 bottles of water... I was full and it was good.

I'll bring a chicken breast on a salad or on a pita with lettuce, tomato & mayo most of the time.
