Silly Question- Level II
Is a Level II the 20 week sonogram?
I see alot about it but wonder does everyone get it? I want one!
I tried googling it and it didnt say, it just said something about being a test more in depth than a Level I to test for blahblahblah

Re: Silly Question- Level II
It was for me. Although, I've read that the level II is really in depth lasting 90 minuted or so but that was not the case for me it only lasted about 30 min

Re: Silly Question- Level II
Yup - the Level 2 sonogram usually happens around the 20th week - although some may go a little earlier or a little later. I think it's safe to say 19-22 weeks.
I think that most people get it - it's basically an anatomy scan that your doctor uses to check on the baby's development. They look at all the organs and overall at the baby.
I would be surprised if your doctor does not set you up for one. You should be able to looks forward to this sonogram around the time mentioned. It's great because you spend a good amount of time seeing the baby and you get pics! You can also find out the sex if you want - and if the baby cooperates. (Mine did not)

Re: Silly Question- Level II
The level II is usually a more in depth sonogram. Some people have it done before 20 weeks (say 17-21) but my doctor liked it around 20 weeks. MIt lasted around 45 minutes.

Re: Silly Question- Level II
I called and asked my doctor about this yesterday. I had my Level II at 17.5 weeks, but have heard most have it at 20 weeks. She said it can be done anytime between 17-20/21 weeks, but that she likes to schedul them earlier rather than later.
Amazing how much different doctor's differ....

Re: Silly Question- Level II
every office is so different, my office calls the 20 week sono a regular 20 week ultrasound, while a Level II at 20 weeks is a more in depth appt, the first ones just a normal 30-40 min exam and the second one (the Level II) is more in depth, lasting 90 minutes and really looks at the babies anatomy and stuff (it tends to be more for women over 35 or at risk for something vs. the other one which is for regular women). i will be doing the level II although everything has been great so far, b/c i made the wrong appt when i called and asked for a level II, i sould have just said the 20 week sono LOL, my OB is great though and told me and my DH to enjoy the longer one as we will be treated like royalty
