Simba got loose this morning, thank goodness he is safe
We had him out in the yard like we do every morning. He loves to watch the birds and rabbits. I was getting ready to leave for work and I go outside to say bye to the doggie like I always do and I saw the lead and thought he was on the side of the house, but something just didnt look right. So I go outside and no Simba. I screamed as if I was being attacked. Hubby comes running out and I scream the dog is gone, the dog is gone. He said are you sure. Um let me think, I am holding his broken collar in my hand what the heck do you think.
Hubby throws on sneakers and grabs his keys to search the neighborhood. He figured the first spots the dog would go to would be his friends homes.
I put my things in the car and I just had a weird feeling to not get in the car yet. I walk to the end of the driveway give a big yell "Simba" look down the block and there he is 2 blocks down.
So now it gets really amusing. I start waving for my husband who is going in the opposite direction, and running down the block towards the dog. Hubby continues driving. (Note to self yell at husband sometime later.) I get about 30 feet from Simba and he looks scared as if I was going to yell at him. Hubby has now turned the corner and my cell phone is in my car. So I squat down and say "come to momma it's ok Simbe, it's ok, come here my good boy" and he comes charging at me, tongue wagging out, galloping towards me. Runs into my arms. Ok so now I have to figure out how to get this 75 lb of mush 2 blocks home. He has no collar on. (Note to self really yell at husband later.) So I picked him up as if I was doing the hymlic on the dog. Walking in platforms for 2 blocks I carried him. 75 lbs of mush. Got to the driveway and almost collapsed. My adrenaline was pumping and I just wanted him home. I beeped hubby and he rushed right home.
It was a scare. Where we live it's mostly woods and often time construction. So many horrible things were running through my head. But so glad he is safe with us. We also got him a new collar tonight.

Re: Simba got loose this morning, thank goodness he is safe
I love the way you wrote that!!! Thank goodness he's safe at home.
BTW, Saturday nite I am sleeping (it's like 2 a.m.) and hubby comes home and lets Misty out. We have a fenced in yard with a gate on the side and she usually goes out, does her business and comes to the door to be let back in, especially at nite. Needless to say, she's out for a while and hubby decides to go to the back door and call her. No response, he walks outside and notices the side gate is open - goes to the front door and calls her....still no response. He then comes in to the bedroom, screaming like he's been shot for me to wake up - I fly out of the bed (remember it's like 3 a.m.) and he tells me she's gone. I go outside to the driveway and call out "Misty come" ( I have no idea where she is) and she comes flying down the street at about 50 mph right into me. Needless to say, it was an interesting experience.
Ya gotta love these pups!
