Since Don asked for a topic- Iraq September deadline
On GMA this morning, I was half listening and the news anchor was talking about a BILLION dollars or something that was waiting to be approved to re-build Iraq?
Now, correct me if I heard wrong.
But was there not a post yesterday about how in our OWN country, New Orleans is still in shambles?
And that some people here don't even have running water?
What is wrong with this picture?

I've been lax on my news coverage lately but if it's true I don't even see there is a debate on what should be done.

No matter what anyone says about either of the cases or what side they are on this could probably get ugly. I could probably talk all day about the subject. But I won't because I know there will be a devils advocate here that spins what I have to say out of context.

Couldn't Agree More. It drives me insane that we spend so much money overseas when our own country could use a little help.

Re: Since Don asked for a topic- Iraq September deadline
Problem is, we should've never gone to Iraq in the first place. But now that little Georgy Bush has gone ahead and stuck the US's finger in the proverbial dike, we need to find a way to finish the job. Unfortunately that will mean more money, more time, and more US military lives. A one-month deadline is not gonna work and there is no way they can get all those troops out so quickly. I think a better, longer-term plan is the solution.....oh wait, isn't that what our leaders were supposed to do in the first place?

Whatever you say is right must be the truth. We like our balls attached. What else would be scratch for 50% of our days?

ITA!!
Without a doubt, we need to fix our own country. Our cities are destroyed. Our brideges are collapsing. Our own citizens have no health insurance and are drowing in debt and becoming homeless. Our kids are coming out of school hundreds of thousands of dollars in the hole before they earn their first paycheck.
But how do we do that when we went ahead and messed up another country? Our military will be there until its fixed, which will mean that our citizens will be dying over there until its all fixed.

The problem is that it will never be fixed. The one thing Bush said that was right is that this is just like Vietnam. When we left, North Vietnam overtook South Vietnam and it became a communist country; the thing we were trying to stop. It will happen again here. When we leave, Syria and Iran flood Iraq and try gain ground to promote their own causes. Iraq will be up for grabs because the "government" Bush put in place has no chance of sustaining itself. This is a war that should never have been started and that we cannot win.
