Sits up but throws himself backwards?

Yet another concern about Drew - my DS is 5mo and has just started sitting up in a tripod position and can also sit unassisted for a little bit. However, sometimes he will "throw himslef backwards"...has anyone else's baby done this? I know that hes a bit tight in the legs so I'm wondeirng if its related to this or not. He also HATES the bumbo.

Ryan does this too. He seems to think it's a game and laughs about it, but that's because I haven't let him slam his head yet!

No, he can't get himself up alone yet. I didn't think babies did that till 6 or 7 mo though??

Yeah you're right. Well mine is 8 months and still won't lift himself up. He can sit unassisted for a while but if he falls back he won't try to lift himself up. He'll try it once by lifting his head and then starts getting upset when he can't do it and won't try lifting up again.

Michael used to do this occassionally as well and we used to prop him sitting with the boppy around him so that just in case he did it, he wouldn't get hurt.

DD throws herself back when she's decided she doesn't want to sit anymore. She finds it amusing too but only because we've been lucky to catch her so far.

Mine did that as well, its like they are testing you, DS used to laugh every time he did it. Luckily they only did it when someone was behind them to catch their little heads!

At 10 months DS is still doing this. He only does it when he is frustrated.
