sitting up-is it practice makes perfect or do they just do it one day?
I have been putting Josh in the boppy and letting him flop around. Leo thinks I am mean and says when he's ready to sit, he will. Should I just leave him alone?
When I change his diaper, he tries to sit up. He hates laying down now and always strains his little belly muscles to sit up.

that's not mean! he needs to practice, how else is he going to develop those muscles? Tell Leo to hang with Mike and they can be worry warts together

its not mean at all. I have read though when they are ready they will let us know. DD sits up to eat and sits herself right up so I got her the bumbo seat now and she loves it!!!

thanks! we had to retire the bumbo. he flung himself out of it twice. I was so sad to see it go.

Janice if you are mean so am I!! I'm always sitting her up in the boppy or on the bed and just slowly let her fall to the side or backwards on to the pillows. She doesn't seem to mind

wow!!!!
he is nutty, he leans over to the side, but the bumbo is good...it doesn't flip with him, he flips out of it, chunky legs and all. I think it was the #1 item I purchased.

If you are mean, then so am I ..
I did the same with Niko when he first started showing an interest in sitting up, plopped him in the boppy and let him topple over and over.. he used to giggle when he toppled
He caught on really quickly and has been sitting up like a champ for awhile now 
We had to retire the bumbo pretty early also, but in our case it was because his legs got too chunky for it

I love the bumbo too- hey I just noticed DD and DS have the same BDAY!
Sorry Janice didn't answer you LOL- I think practice makes perfect- I even did this with rolling over.

Def. practice makes perfect. Ryan did crunches in his bouncy seat for a long time before ever sitting up on his own. It takes them a while to get it!
