Situation Specific Sleep Training Question-- Please help with any input or advice.
So, I have been at my mom's for almost a week-- Sasha is waking up more than ever in the middle of the night. We started sleep training (we did one night) before we had to vacate our apt.
I will probably be here for another week-- but definitely through the weekend. Can I do anything here- or will that screw her up too much?
I am so f*cking tired it's insane. DH is back at home, and I am also helping my mom who is recovering from surgery. She woke up FOUR times last night, then was up at 5 15 this morning.
Something has got to give and I am worried about the damage being done while I am here because I am rushing in to her too quickly.

Well i'm not really sure i understand the situation, but i will say this... consistency is key and you must be consistent EVERY night. Otherwise you might as well not bother until you can do that.
It's hard i know. Whenever jacen is in a different place, he wakes up at night. Then it becomes 4 times a night because usually we're at someone else's place and cant let him cry all night and keep them up. So i know how frustrated you are.
But until you can do it 100% of the time, every night... i wouldn't do it quite yet.

Well, does the location matter? If I do it while I am here, then continue at home-- is that consistent enough?
We are unable to stay in our own home because of some emergency work that needed to be done-- and I am unsure of when I can get back in since we are at the mercy of contractors, that I am not paying for!

Location shouldn't matter. Last year I was at my moms for 2.5 weeks while DH was away and I kept to my schedule from home and they did fine. I say try the sleep training again and then stick with the same schedule at home.
One thing that may be going on is teething. She is close to 4 months I think, right? You might not see them but her gums could be swollen. I would try giving her hyland teething tablets and see how she does. That seemed to work wonders for my DD and it also helped her go to bed.

She'll be 5 months on Friday. I don't think she is teething.
When I posted last week about needing to leave our place, everyone said we should stop. But she has gotten so bad since we've been here-- something has got to give.
I think I am just going to do it tonight-- it's not like I am going to lose any less sleep.
We have stayed true to her bedtime routine here. She's got the same mobile, etc. But she is waking up so much-- it's insane.
I might pick up some of those teething tablets tomorrow and see how it goes-- what are they exactly?

As long as things are similar (like you said, same mobile, etc) I would continue as long as you are up for it without your DH. I try to keep things as similar as possible when we are away. I have never done sleep training away from home, but I have also not been in your situation where you are out of your home for an extended period of time. I know you said you don't think she is teething----could she be having a growth spurt? Either way, I hope you get more sleep soon

Re: Situation Specific Sleep Training Question-- Please help with any input or advice.
if it's becoming too hard then i would possibly forget it and try again in a few weeks. she may still be too young, who knows. i rocked DD#1 forever, never really did CIO but she was colicky. DD#2 at 7 months took 3 nights (knock on wood, hoping it sticks).
i take cues from the kiddos. i felt DD#2 was ready because she had started to set her own naps and get into a routine without me forcing her. for CIO i also picked her up every 10 minutes for 1-2 minutes to make sure she did not have to burp (which was the case for DD#1).
i also think location and ambiance details shouldn't really matter, when she's ready she'll let you know...
hang in there!

If you can do it there and continue at home consistently, go for it.
I just meant that for instance, we do CIO all the time. We have to. Anyway we went to FL with the in laws and they are 100% against letting him CIO. So we couldn't do it the whole time we were there. It was awful. So if your mom is okay with it and it won't disturb her, than go for it.

This is what the box looks like. Instead of giving tylenol or motrin I gave this. I actually only gave DD motrin when she got her molars. It is homeopathic. I bought it at CVS. Humphry's is also another one that a lot mom's use and that is also homeopathic.
