Sizes on Maternity Clothes?
I have a question about sizing on maternity clothes. I've tried on a few things and bought one pair of pants so far, but I wonder how well any of this will fit when I'm further along.
Do you buy things a size larger than you usually would? Most of the stuff I've seen seems to be S, M, L, etc. so if I'm normally a medium, should I buy a large?
I'm hoping to buy a few things this month for the summer. June will be crazy for me, and I doubt I'll have much time to shop at all then.

Re: Sizes on Maternity Clothes?
I am NO expert in this, but have been buying med- lg tops.
Assuring that I have some room, as I am assuming it will be a long hot summer.
I am still learning about the joys of maternity clothing. Although, I find when I buy a piece that's too big it looks tenty on me. If I shop with my MIL and my mom they ALWAYS make me get the "larger size".
Good luck

Re: Sizes on Maternity Clothes?
Unfortunatelly, you WILL NOT know how big/small you will be. I bought some clothes at the beginning thinking they would go the entire pregnancy.
Hmmm...no! They actually did until I was about 30 wks PG which was good. I had to buy a few more pants in a bigger size/different style for the remaining few weeks. I am just trying to rotate on what I can wear without investing too much at the end.
So, don't buy too much at the beginning. Everybody "grows" differently too.

Re: Sizes on Maternity Clothes?
I can't get into my pg jeans anymore - haven't since about 30 weeks. So, I just wear the looser/more flexible pants. Some of my tops are too small now too. But as I say, that didn't happen until about 30 weeks so you have some time.

Re: Sizes on Maternity Clothes?
I had to go up a size for most of my pregnancy.
If I was a medium, a large maternity was more comfortable.
And at the end - NOTHING is fitting.
None of my pants fit anymore. I have to wear a dress or yoga pants or my belly is way too restricted.
If I had to do it again I would have bought fewer things earlier on and spaced out my wardrobe a little better.

Re: Sizes on Maternity Clothes?
Thanks for the replies! So it sounds as if I should get the large if it's not swimming on me now.
If all goes well, I should be able to make it through the summer with the pieces I buy now, and by the time I start outgrowing them, I'll probably want a few things for Fall (I'm due Dec. 1st).
I have the feeling I'm going to look like an eggplant! I've always been smaller on top and wider in the hip/thigh area.
