Skylanders trap team starter for tablet (please help if you can)

I feel so bad for my son we are not computer savy so please help if you can. He purchased this starter kit recently I followed these directions:
Bluetooth on in settings
Download skylanders trap app in Apple store (we downloaded the free version)turned on portal and wireless remote

Now my son was able to play the game for a bit but the issue is swapping his skylanders he can do it once and that's it then if we reset the game it is stuck on the same skylander. We can't swap. What should we do?

Ok, I am computer game stupid, but I asked my 10 yr old son. I hope we can help, but he only has game for the Xbox, not the tablet. He says you have to be in story mode to switch...he says you may be playing only in battle mode or in the tutorial. Now if this doesn't work I will ask him again....good luck! Hope this helps.

Thank you for asking your son . I deleted and reinstalled the app for him. I told him what your son said to take that into consider too and now everything seems ok.
