Sleep Help Needed Desperately
Does any else have a LO that doesn't sleep?! I hit my breaking point this am. For the last 2 months-DS was been getting up 3-4 a night. He also has trouble going to sleep but I give him Melatonin and it calms him down and he would go to sleep. He still got up multiple times a night.
Now- it seems like the melatonin stopped working and he is having difficultly going to sleep and staying asleep. I am exhausted! I'm having difficultly at work b/c I am so tired.
I need a solution and fast.

Do you have a night time routine to wind him down? Showers or a bath at night help calm down DD as well as taking all electronics away a few hours before bedtime.
Call your doctor and see if they can give you something like Melatonin or maybe you aren't giving him enough.
DD doesn't sleep. She never did. She goes to bed at 8:30 and is up until about 10 and then wakes up at least 3 times a night and is up for the day at 6:30. We tried everything and nothing worked. That is just how she is. She is not tired in the morning and the lack of sleep is not effecting her so the doctor said to let it be. Now that she is older she knows she can not leave her room if she wakes up and she needs to stay in bed to rest even if she is awake. She is allowed to read if she is up and that's about it.
I haven't slept in 9 years lol. I dream of a weekend alone with no one and just a bed and roomservice!

Re: Sleep Help Needed Desperately
I could have written this word for word :( my sons neurologist is having us gradually increase his melatonin but he is skeptical that it will work. In the likely event that it doesn't, he recomended a medication called clonidine (NO relation to klonophin which is an adult benzo). He said it's effective and benign. My ped is reluctant, as am I. But it's getting to the point where the family can no longer function. Neither his brothers nor I sleep and we are all a mess. I may give it a go soon. Good luck.

Has your child had a sleep study done yet? My daughter never sleeps but she does have mild apnea and obstructive breathing. Her tonsils and adenoids were removed in August. She still doesn't sleep well, which we think is part of the attention deficit problem. but were are having another sleep study done to make sure her apnea is better. She may need her pallet expanded as well if she is still having obstructive breathing.

I started using lavender oil. It helps calm my son down at night.
