Sleep issue

Well actually its not really a sleep issue, more than a waking up issue...

Ryan goes to bed around 6-6:30, and usually sleeps til 5-6, which is fine by me, since I really am supposed to start my day @ 5, if I wanna be at work on time...

My problem is lately he's been getting up at like 4.. Chat Icon - Way too early for mommy...

Also- on the weekends he usually will go back to bed for an hour or 2, after he's eaten, and played for like an hour...So even on the weekends Im OK with the 5-6 o'clock early bird...

So last night I decided to try and nap him at 4... hoping that I could get him to stay up til 7-8, and maybe he'd stay asleep til @ least 6...

Well It was a struggle, but I did get that nap in there, 4-5:30 he napped...but by 7- he wanted to go to bed...So I said fine, at least I got aan extra half hour to an hour outta him...

Sure enough he was up at 4am this morning...- He's not even up to eat... He dosent ask for a bottle so I dont give it, (until usually 530/6- Ive tried giving it to him when he wakes up, thinking thats why he's up early and he dosent really take it) So basically my plan didnt work... Should I keep trying with this? Any suggestions on how I can get my early bird just to sleep those 1-2 extra hours?? Do I need to just drop it and deal with it?

I know Im amongst the lucky that at least he sleeps through the night (although half way through the night, he often wakes, just to come in our bedChat Icon )and Im not trying to be greedy, but 4 is just so damn early...

Im not gonna continue to keep him up past his bed time, if he is gonna wake up the same time, so any advice would be great.. Thanks

Re: Sleep issue

When he wakes up, is he crying? Yelling out to you to come get him? Or do you just hear him awake? Most of the time, Jesse wakes up and we hear him making his baby noises and talking, but we just let him be. He busies himself in his crib and we get him when he starts to fuss or it gets late.

If he's not fussing, just leave him be. If he is, then try to watch his cues during the day for when he's tired. We kept putting Jesse to be late because that's when he always went to bed, but he gradually went earlier and earlier on his own, and now he's in bed by 6-6:30PM, and wakes up around 6-6:30AM (but he doesn't fus for an hour or two). He needs to set his own schedule and unfortunately, sometimes that will mean waking at 4AM (my friend's son has been doing this for two years!) Good luck!

Re: Sleep issue

Hayley is the same way. The last few weeks she will go to bed normal 10pm and get up at 5 instead of 7. I hear her babbling in her crib and I try to let her go as long as possible. Sometimes she will go back to sleep but not always. That is way too early for Mommy!

I was going to ask the same thing. Christopher will usually wake up once in the morning and he'll make some noises to himself. If he's not crying, I give him a little time (10-15 minutes). Usually he falls back asleep in that time and continues to sleep for another hour or so.

Re: Sleep issue

It starts off him babbling "mom" or "mama" When I dont go its a full out tantrum... getting him to go to bed is no prob @ all... he wants to be in bed by 6-6:30... but i figured pushing it to 7 would help, but im wrong...????

Re: Sleep issue

We're having the same problem. Alex went from waking up at 6:30/7am-ish, to 5am. WAY to early for mommy! I tried everything - nothing works. I think we just have to wait it out and hope they get back on schedule SOON!
