IS your DC sleeping thru the night? now i don't mean 10 pm to 8 am which i know some of the lucky ones out there have! i mean how many times is your DC waking during the night now? i EBF and expect DD (almost 4 mnths) to wake and eat but last night and the night before it was 3 x!!!!Chat Icon she eats like she's starving and cries and screams until i feed hr. i thought that by 4 months she would not have to eat that much at night. i can handle maybe 12 am and 5 am feedings but 11/2/5 is just too much i think! please, if you, will let me know how much your DC wakes at night whether BF or FF-thanks!!

Re: sleep Q again! moms of3/ 4 month olds/5month olds-still waking at night?

My DS is 5 mths and he still wakes 2-3 times a night to eat. I don't think that every 3 hrs is that crazy for a 4 mth old, but I only know from my experience with DS.

DS is 3.5 months and wakes once at night to feed. Usually arund 3:45 at night. Then he wakes up again between 6-7pm. I also feel that i feed him more during the day he sleeps longer at night. Have you started DC on solids yet?

DS is 3 1/2 months and sleeps straight through from 8-9PM and gets up at around 645-7 AM with no feedings in between (i am very lucky right now). Around 6 weeks to 2 months he started pushing his middle of the night feeding from 3AM to 4AM all by himself and eventually one night slept the whole night without getting up. From then on he never needed the nighttime bottle anymore. I do swaddle him though so i think that helps. When i stop swaddling him, i wonder if he will still sleep though the night. I know he def doesn't need that middle of the night feeding anymore, so on the rare times he wakes/fusses in the middle of the night, i just give him his pacifier and hes fine ( i dont offer him a bottle). He is FF and gets 5 bottles a day- 5 1/2-6 oz in each

DD is 4.5 months old and I am EBF and she'll wake 2x during the night to feed. Once at about 1 or 2 am and then again around 4 or 5 am.

I'm one of the few lucky ones.....my DD is 3 months old & usually sleeps from 9pm until 7:30 am (she usually stirs around 530 & we put paci in). She's drinking bm that's pumped (no formula).

ok thanks for your responses at least i'm not alone! i will try to feed DD more during the day and perhaps that will help cut down one of the three feedings!

DD is 16 weeks yesterday and still wakes at 1 or 3 am and at around 6 am. I put her down again after I feed her at 6 and she sleeps from 1-2 hours. Not ideal, but it doesn't look like it's going to break anytime soon.

My DS is a little older, 5 months old, but at his 5 month appointment, my ped told us to not feeding him between 11pm and 5am (he is formula fed).

I will say though, my DS doesn't eat much during the day, so that may be why my ped said to do this.

Re: sleep Q again! moms of3/ 4 month olds/5month olds-still waking at night?

I'm very lucky my 3 month DD sleeps from 8pm. to 6:30/7:30am. She's a big baby though She was 13 lbs at her 2 month apt. 95 percentile, and eats a lot during the day (FF). about 6 bottles of 6oz. someone told me there size has something to do with sleeping though the night??? not sure if thats true though
ETA: the 1st bottle of the day though (6:30/7:30am.) is an 8oz. bottle!!

My DD falls asleep around 7/8pm and we wake her around 9:30/10:30 to eat (BF). We then put her down and she sleeps till about 5 for a feeding, and the goes down till about 9ish. However, the last few days she has slept through her 5am feeding till about 8! No idea if that's gonna keep happening, though!

Have you tried a dream feed? At that age, my DD was in bed by 7Pm and would wake up 3-4 hours later to be fed. What I started doing since I went to bed around 10/10:30 was to pick her up asleep at around 10 and feed her. She would rarely open her eyes but would BF and be really groggy. I'd put her back down and then she wouldn't wake until around 3:00. The stretch of time just got longer and longer. I did the dream feed for a couple of months and eventually cut it out and she did without it and wouldn't wake up to be fed at all until around 3:00. You might want to try it----at least you'd be in control of one of the feedings. Feed DD right before you go to be so that you can get some hours of sleep under your belt before she wakes you. Same here. Chat Icon

However, there were also a few nights that, because of teething, he woke more than that. It was usually close to when the tooth broke through.

DS is 4 mos and will sometimes wake up one time per night, usually when he's not been feeling well which has been the case this past week. He's usually asleep by 9:30 or 10PM and sleeps until 5:30-6:30AM.

i'm starting to think that might be the problem. she may not be nursing enough during the day. she is also just nursing on one side per feeding which is fine but i wonder....we started the oatmeal cereal last night. i think if i count it up she is only nursing 4-5x from wake up to bedtime Chat Icon
