sleep question- need help please? update we are not leaving until 7:30 now, can I get him down its only a half hour before his time??
For the Past 2 Weeks we have done the feber, CIO method and it has finally worked for us after 13 months Bryan is finally sleeping on his own in his crib and going down without crying.
tomorrow is my high school reunion, Bryan's usual bedtime is 8 and he has his whole routine starting at 7:30. I need to be out of my house by 6 :45. My brother is going to be watching him but no one else but me has ever put him to bed. Do you think I should try to put him down early at 6.30, maybe miss his last nap or something or have my brother try to do his routine???? Last time my brother watched him he wouldn't take a bottle from him at all. Im worried that all my sleep training is going to be ruined. I don't know what to do.

i would try to put him down early. But be prepared he may wake up. Don't worry though one night shouldn't spoil his routine!!

Re: sleep question- need help please?
If he's been good for the past 2 weeks, one night shouldn't mess him up but I would not put him down that much earlier, he probably won't go down nicely.
I would say to do his whole routine so that he's ready for bed by 6:30pm. But leave out the last step (bottle, book, etc) for your brother to do.
Skipping a nap could make him way overtired, very cranky and much harder to put down to bed especially when you are pressed for time to leave.
Good luck!

Re: sleep question- need help please?
I was very worried about the same thing. I got everything ready for my MIL and let her do it exactly the same way I did. He cried a little when she put him down but it wasn't bad. I think the routine is mostly what is important. I mean he will miss you but disrupting the routine doesn't help. It could make it worse. They need the structure to remain the same.

Re: sleep question- need help please?
I would have your brother put him to bed - you might be able to put him to bed earlier - but he will most likely wake up a short time later.
I think its healthy for the child to get used to someone else putting them to bed or for a nap if you aren't around. If he is tired, he will go to sleep - there are times when you won't always be around for whatever reason and he must get used to that. We tried the CIO method on my daughter - and she is doing very well with it - I don't think one night is going to mess up with whole cycle.
Good luck

Re: sleep question- need help please?
I find that the sleep routine works, Noah doesn't know what time it is, but he does know that after that bath, its time for sleepy pies! So why not just do it earlier.
Keep in mind I am the most fly by the seat of my pants mother and if you are very scheduled, my methods might not work....
