Sleepaway camp

Does anyone have a child going to Sleepaway camp for the first time?

My son will be going and I am starting thenprocess of buying all he needs..... Just went to roadshow for camp to buy the required tshirts and stuff.... ( a small fortune) but now he is getting real excited...

It is finally sinking in that he is going....

My ds is going for the first time. He'll be going to Camp Hilltop in the Catskills for 2 weeks. He is in third grade right now, he'll be almost 9 when he goes. He us super excited, and I am excited for him, but I can't lie, I am getting more and more nervous about it. I know he'll love it, but I've never been away from him for that long.

Jacob will be going entering 5 th grade.. He will be away for 7 Wks -Camp chipinaw in Swan Lake, NY.

I know this is a great tray for him to grow and learn to do things independently from me I went as a child and I cannot wait for him to go..

I have him signed up for two weeks, but I have a feeling when I go to pick him up he's going to ask to stay longer. I'm still debating if he asks whether I'll let him or not.
Is your DS going with any of his friends? My DS us going with my friends triplets. They'll all be in a bunk together. I think knowing that is making it easier on all of us.

Nope! But I have a get together with a few other boys this weekend and we will have more meet ups until camp so they know faces when they go up on the bus..

I am happy for him not to be with everyone he knows....

I always had camp friends and school friends growing up and I hope he has the same.

He doesn't go to school with the triplets, so the kids are friendly, but not necessarily friends. At least not yet ;)
