sleeping positions
i know they say to sleep on your left side and i have been pretty good w/ this, however the last week or so my stomach has been hurting if i lay on my left side. the only way i'm confortable is on my back, which i heard isn't good either.
how is everyone else sleeping? do you have one of those body pillows and do they really work? how about regular pillows to prop me up at night, think they'd stay? i am 32 weeks and i know these last few weeks are gonna kill me!

Re: sleeping positions
I switch from left side to right side throughout the night, but favor my right side. I use a body pillow (which has been a GODSEND!), but have found that you can pretty much use any pillow between your legs, and even under your belly for added comfort. I say give it a try. I'm not sure what you meant by using extra pillows to prop you up (I assume to somewhat of a upright position? ), but I definitely think you should try extra pillows cushioning around the belly.

Re: sleeping positions
Throughout my whole pg up until recently I have slept on my sides and my back. Dr told me as long as I was sleeping, didn't matter, my body would tell me if it was a bad position. I only use a pillow between my legs. I can't sleep on my back now at 37.5 weeks cause my little 's weight and uterus hurt me!

Re: sleeping positions
i don't sleep.
seriously, for about a month now (i just started my 33rd week) i am up every 2-3 hours painfully switching sides. i have two king size pillows that i am sandwiched in between and i alternately hug each.
when i get up, my whole body aches and i wobble to the bathroom like an 80 year old woman!

Re: sleeping positions
At that stage of my pregancny I just started sleeping on the coach on my side, that way you have the support of the back of the couch. Made sleeping much better!

Re: sleeping positions
I switch it up throughout the night. I try to stay on my left side as much as possible, but I also go right and sometimes on my back...
I have quite the pillow set up. 2 under my head, 1 on my left side that I rest my belly on, 1 at my feet that sometimes I put between my legs or prop my feet up on, and one long body pillow to my right - it supports my back when I'm on my left side, and when I switch to the right side I have my belly and a leg on it.
Switching from side to side is quite the production - the pillows don't move with me, but just getting over to the other side requires a three point turn

Re: sleeping positions
My doctor also told me to sleep however I was comfortable. He said the idea that you can't sleep on your back after 16 weeks is exaggerated to make us ladies crazy! Lying FLAT on your back is not good, but when you sleep you aren't flat. Your head and shoulders are elevated by your pillow(s). In any case, by about 32 weeks it just wasn't very comfortable to sleep on my back anymore. I am most comfortable on my right side, so that is how I usually sleep. I do sleep with a pillow between my knees and it helps with the hip pain. I used the Snoogle for a while but that just got too cumbersome to roll over with.
As for rolling over, wear satin PJs. It is MUCH easier if all you have to do is sliiide over!! Somebody on here posted this a few weeks ago and I tried it, and it definately makes life easier. I pulled out one of my satin nightgowns -- it is now stretched to its limit (38 weeks) but it does the job
