Sliding glass door - blinds and such.

We had vertical blinds, but they were old & I got into a fight with them after they kept falling down one by one. I ended up dismantling the whole system.

I love the look of no blinds (love all the natural light), but obviously we need something there for the night.

What do you have?
Does anyone have panel track shades?

I definitely don't want vertical blinds again.
I want something that moves horizontally, if anything.

Who do you find had the best prices?

i love these; they are panel track shades:

I have a valance and a long curtain that moves with a rod. The curtain is light blocking, b/c in the summer and late afternoon the sun beaming thru is unbearable. I got the whole thing at Marburn Curtain. I love it.

We have french doors but there are only woods behind us so we don't worry about covering them with anything. Where we used to live I was thinking about getting drapes that slid on a track though but never got around to it (we had the vertical blinds and were just done with them). We looked at the panels like you showed, they're very nice but I was leaning more towards the drapes becuase I liked the softer look of them. I don't think you can go wrong with the panels though and they come in so many styles!

I like the pic you have posted.

I have sliders out to my deck from my living room. I just have two panels of curtains, one on each side that match the rest of the curtains in my LR. I don't have a privacy issue and if I really need to I just pull the curtains closed.

Re: Sliding glass door - blinds and such.

Why not do a double rod with decorative valance and a sheer you can pull back?

[I have a doubler rod with a curtain & sheers. My double rod is from pottery barn, I have silk duponi curtain that's tied back and white sheers for privacy & to let in light. I would prefer to have nothing, but I need privacy Chat Icon

We have panel shades on our sliders and I absolutely love them. We got them from Blinds to Go.

why not get custom sized shades that you could roll down or up

Or perhaps good old fashioned curtains?

Re: Sliding glass door - blinds and such.

Currently I have verticals and hate them.
I'm going to take them down and hang panels once I find something I like. I would love to leave them bare but, we get way to much sunlight during the day.

That's what I plan on doing when we install ours.
