Slomins and other oil cos

I had Slomins and the contract was up on jan 2. I signed up with Meenan.

I called them to make sure I canceled the contract today and to make sure they weren't going to come deliver.

Sure enough the ticket was already generated at $3.045/gal. I told them cancel and don't deliver.

They canceled and noted and told us to cover the pipe and put a sign do not deliver. They said if they delivered already if I had proof of a lower rate they would do their best to honor it. They can't call the drivers and tell them not to deliver. Right...

So, the PSA here is if you go to another oil co, call them and cancel asap before you have to jump through hoops.

I got this notion in my head from the other post about an oil delivery from the previous owners contract.

Glad I called.

You know I actually met with my new heating company today (Windsor) on my new house.

He placed a tag that said "do not deliver" on my oil nozzle outside.

I thought he was doing this to let his own people know that I just had a full tank delivered on Saturday.

But now I realize this is to alert other oil companies that I am not represented by a new company.
