SLR owners- Question
I LOVE my NIKON D40! I almost dont ever leave home without..except once ( and I was really mad at myself)
With that being said, at times I dont like lugging it around me...depending on the event.....SO
would be wrong of me to purchase a digital camera?
As my backup?
I think I addressed this to DH and he got all upset and mad that I even considered it.

Re: SLR owners- Question
That was the reason I didn't get an SLR. I have a canon sx100.
It takes amazing pictures (people were amazed at the pics I took in Hawaii) has a really good zoom lots of different settings and features and fits in my bag. I seriously consider and slr but thought after a month Id want a smaller camera

Re: SLR owners- Question
I feel the same way. I love my D40x. But I can't even conceive asking DH to get me another camera.
I also feel I will be disappointed that I did not take the pic with my SRL

Re: SLR owners- Question
No way!
I still have my 4 year old Kodak EasyShare or easyshot or whatever you call it. It's a 4MP point and shoot that I bring whenever I don't feel like lugging my DSLR around. If I'm going to an event where I just want to have a few snaps, I bring it along. I could really use a newer, better point and shoot, but I won't be putting money into that until the Kodak dies.
I think it's definitely a good idea to have both.
I just went to a wedding this past weekend and I didn't bring anything and I wished I had brought my p&s.

Re: SLR owners- Question
I also have a little Kodak 8MP point and shoot that I use when I don't want to bring my DSLR/lenses with me.
If I'm going somewhere questionable I'd rather lose a $150 point and shoot than the DSLR and lenses

Re: SLR owners- Question
This is exactly why I contemplated when I got my Sony last year. I knew that I truly loved the Nikon but I never leave the house without my camera. To lug that around was just going to be annoying.
I am very happy with my Sony 7.2...It has a lot of features & takes really nice pictures....Plus it was under $300

Re: SLR owners- Question
TY everyone!
for the ones who considered, SLR, its SO worth it! Believe me, gorgeous shots...and most of the time it isnt a problem for me, to bring around.
I think for me, having a DC....say if Im in the park, and she had a funny/fun/cute moment,...I didnt get to capture it!
maybe with the digital I could have. Only because Im a crazy picture freak! haha
The pics from an SLR are amazing...and I know a digital dont capture most of those shots...but willing to have a "handy" one around

Re: SLR owners- Question
I have a d40x...but I also have a point and shoot that fits in my bag...there are times that you go somehwere and you do not want to drag the bag, the lenses, etc... I say get one for the little outings...
oh and ETS I had my point and shoot before the D40x but when sometimes I mention getting a newer point and shoot my DH gets the same way..

Re: SLR owners- Question
Not at all! I have a Nikon D40x and a regular digital for every day events for the same reason.

This is the exact reason why I leave my good Nikon Point & Shoot home and always lug my D40 around...don't want to miss an awesome shot and not have my D40 with me.
