Smart Disney vacationers....

I am looking at staying a few days (2-3) in Disney in July.

There usually are summer sales. I know I missed one... if I book a room and give a deposit, can I call and lower the price or switch hotels all together if staying at Disney? I know there is a $200 deposit. What is that for? The whole trip? The tickets? Is it transferable if I move to another Disney hotel?

My other option is to wait til last minute (it’s ok if I don’t stay onsite as we are not staying long, we aren’t going to get premium FP anyways & we will have a car as we are sticking it on to another vacation).

The $200 deposit is for the Disney package. The $200 deposit is fully refundable up until the balance is due which is 30 days prior. For a room only, the deposit is a one night stay. If you have a particular hotel in mind, I would put the deposit down to guarantee that. Yes, you can call to get priced lower or switch to another hotel - as long as there is availability

There are sales for summer that just came out today! Either one free meal per day or a discounted room. Call Disney and ask.

I never book a package with Disney. I always book a room only reservation, and you pay one night deposit and the rest due at check in. If you need to cancel, you have 5 days prior to check in to do so with zero penalty. Packages have stiffer penalties. It's very easy to switch hotels and rates, by logging into your reservation. Our trip last month, I switched my hotel 4 times via the website lol

Thanks all, this was the sale I was waiting for.

Just booking for 3 nights (2 days in the park)... so I didn’t want to lose one night deposit.

I did want to compare though! Will stay at a different place than I would have booked.
